The picture shows a template in LibreOffice Writer for creating business cards
LibreOffice has been my office productivity software since 2011, the year after it split off from OpenOffice. At work my computers have both the Microsoft suite and LibreOffice, because support of the Microsoft products are important to my job description. All my home desktops and laptops have provided excellent support of my documentation needs without Microsoft Office.
When I must recover a corrupt Microsoft document or spreadsheet (this type of support request comes along pretty often), the primary tool is LibreOffice. Open the file with LibreOffice when the Microsoft program that created it cannot, and then add a character or a comma and save it from LibreOffice in the docx format. Now it works again for the users who were unable to open their corrupt file!
Ever try to copy and paste from a website to a Microsoft Word document? Does it look like you expected? Much better results from LibreOffice Writer. Along with the regular office packages, LibreOffice includes Draw and Math.
Too frequently teachers are informing their students that they must use the proprietary Microsoft programs to complete their homework and assignments when LibreOffice saves work as the formats the educators require just fine.
LibreOffice is open source software available without any fee and the project has launched a new drive for pulling in new developers.
